Featured Friday Friend

Tuesday night I went to the Michigan Avenue Magazine event featuring Jennifer Hudson. Michelle invited me as her plus one and it was so much fun!!  It was at the House of Blues and they were promoting Hennessy and some like interior design thing that we took pictures with to win a contest.  Therefore, Michelle is obviously my FFF.

Puppy Prayers

My father has been in Florida this past week and was suppose to come home Sunday so I was babysitting his black lab, Coal.  Wednesday night my mother and I went to a meeting and when we came home, Coal was not on the couch but on the kitchen floor. We thought he was just being lazy like he always is until I realized something was wrong with his back legs.  Coal is obese ((weighing 132 lbs)) because my dad overfeeds him so we had to have my neighbors help us carry him into the car. We had to take him to the Emergency Vet because it was already 8:30pm and all the other vets were closed.  At the ER vet, the doctor thought it was most likely a split ((or slip?)) disc but they didnt have the technology there to do the special MRIs and CAT scans and etc.  The doctor suggested we take him to Purdue University which is 2hours from Chicago.  And since Coal is the love of my fathers life, we had to take him to the ER vet at Purdue.  We didnt get to Purdue until 3am their time and the doctor working the night shift said everything the other ER vet said and that he will most likely need surgery... After more hours of waiting and then finally checking into a hotel room at 630 in the morning and then sleeping for about 2.5 hours and showering and eating lunch  and then my dad cathing an emergency flight to meet us, the doctors gave us an update saying that he will not need surgery and that he had a spinal stroke.  As of right now Coal needs a catheter for potties, a ton of physical therapy and an extreme diet.  I am so blessed that he is okay and so blessed to have wonderful people who helped us out along the way.

Here is a picture of Coal feeling a little bit better but he still has not movement in his back legs :(

FlashBack & Featured Friday Friend: Max Next Door

After sleeping in yet again yesterday, I hung out with my next door neighbor, Max.  I remember when Max was born when I was 10 years old.  Even though he is only 13 he is very mature for his age and can carry on adult conversations.  Unlike me, he even has a job.  Last night, my mother, Max next door, and I took a drive downtown to Eat at Ricobene's and to see some Christmas decorations.....
The Art Institute Lions hav been my most favorite Christmas decoration since I was a baby.  Not only do I loove lions and The Lion King, I loove that they put a wreath around their necks.

Trees without leaves are always more beautiful with lights.

a penny saved is a penny earned

Did some errins at Target last night and came across this really good sale!!

Besides saving a penny last night, I can't believe I haven't blogged in over month...

This past month and a half...
--I interviewed for Teach For America, and was not accepted.  It's actually a blessing in disguise because the more I have looked into it, it's not really for me...I'm currently receiving my Master's in Education anyways, so I will be teaching soon enough.
--I've gotten straight A's in all of my grad school classes so far... I have also made some good friends and connections.
--My blood test said my cholesterol is 238, which is high becuase my doctor said it is suppose to be 180 or less.
--I bought a new phone and should be getting it hopefully today or tomorrow.. Then I can actually blog on the go

Sunday Funday

Had a wonderful morning sleeping in until noon. Then my mother and I went to the Library downtown to check out books for a Lit Review that I need to write for school.   After that we went up to Lincoln Park to drop off some mail at my brother's and decided the three of us should eat at delicious Ricobene's.   I had an italian beef with sweet peppers and fries and I am now stuffed to the gills.

TFA Thursday & Featured Friend Friday

Wednesday I received an email stating that I was invited for a final interview with Teach For America!  This is extremely exciting because this is something that I really want to do.  My old suite-mate from freshman year of college is currently in Columbia for the Peace Corps, and that is another thing I would like to do during my lifetime.
For TFA's final interview it is necessary to wear a nice suit, so I went downtown with my father to the office, and of course took advantage of State Street.  I did buy just a basic black suite from Macy's, but of course I had to make purchases from H&M and Forever21.  It would be fantastic if I actually do get a job to help me out with my shopping habits.
Last night I met up my friends Rachel and Michelle, so it was nice to get a little bit of a night out and catch up on life and other things.  That was the first time I saw Rachel since her wedding back in February, and she notified me that her and her husband, Chris will be moving to Wisconsin next month, but at least that state is next to Illinois.

View from the 27th floor office.  Such a great view of the Prison ((the triangular building)), but at least the lake and other buildings are in the view.

Buddy, the cutest St. Bernard puppy that is always at the parking lot.

Briano, the Featured Friday Friend... Briano is mainly my brother's good friend, but I've known him since I was like 8.  He transferred to ASU in Spring of 2010 so it was nice to get a taste of home while living in Arizona.  Just the other day he went left home to go to the Air Force, thus the reason why he's my FFF.
